Fly Away!

Tomorrow is my last day in Pre-K. Wow,those six weeks sure went fast! It's going to be hard saying good-bye to all the preschoolers, but it will be nice to get caught up on some things at home.
Here is the quilt I made for baby Jase. I hope it gets lots of use and I will be praying for his momma. It's going to be hard to leave him at home and return to school.
For the backing I pieced together all the colors I used on the front.

Progress

Over the past month we have made good progress on our kitchen remodel.  First, we built new soffits to accommodate our cabinets.  Then my husband and his good friend mudded the kitchen in the evenings.  It was a long process due to the fact we had to mud over the rough plaster in the dining room to make the kitchen match.  Also, for some reason the mud kept leaving air bubble holes even though they cleaned the walls several times.  Once they finished, I painted the walls.  The white places are where cabinets will eventually go so I saved on paint by skipping them.
This corner used to be empty.  I'm so excited to have cabinets here.  In the end the upper cabinets will house baking dishes and the base cabinets will house small appliances/canning supplies. There will be molding around the upper cabinets to finish them off.
We also put up the cabinets above the stove.  Our new kitchen will have an oven hood too, which was just wired this weekend.  You might notice the stove is a little larger than the hood.  We do have a new stove sitting in the living room, but we are waiting to put it in until we are done with all the mudding.  Drywall dust is so fine I don't want to destroy it already.  (Happy Birthday to me!!)

After finishing the paint job, I started painting around the windows.  It's taking more coats than I thought, which is why the upper cabinets are missing on both sides.  You might remember from earlier pictures the sink was not torn out like the rest in April. Since we are preparing to put in the new flooring, we took it out last Sunday.
Under the window you might notice some gray places.  The water had leaked behind the sink for so long it destroyed the plaster.  We are currently working on fixing it.
On Friday school had an early dismissal for an SIP day, since I'm just a substitute I didn't have to stay.  Luckily my dad was able to come over to help us lay the concrete board down.  Now we just need a free day to lay tile.  Meanwhile harvest is starting so it might be a long while until there is another update.
